How to bulk compress images

To bulk compress images, prepare copies at the dimensions you need, upload up to 20 at a time and compare the results before downloading a ZIP. Bitinz's website has no usage-count limit. For hundreds or thousands of images in a repeatable workflow, use the developer API with an account and monthly quota.

Work through a batch

  1. Keep the originals and gather working copies. Use recognizable filenames so you can match results to the right destination.
  2. Resize oversized images in your editor first. Group images by destination and check the required format and quality for each group.
  3. Open Bitinz and upload up to 20 images. Split larger collections into batches of 20, with the remainder in the last batch. Start with Balanced and choose Keep format, or WebP where accepted.
  4. Wait for the results and review the file list. Inspect fine text, gradients and transparent edges, and read notices about unchanged or larger files. Check any failed files separately before considering the batch complete.
  5. Download results individually or as a ZIP, then open the downloaded files to confirm you have what you need. Continue with another batch when ready; the website has no usage-count limit.

The defaults are 25 MB per image and 4 hours of result availability from submission. Current settings may differ: check the upload area and download in time. Downloads expire and files are cleaned up automatically; keep your own originals.

Group similar tasks together: a photo may suit WebP while a logo works better as PNG. Comparing a representative image helps you choose the output before continuing. For PNG-only conversion, try PNG to WebP.

For hundreds or thousands of images

For recurring uploads, a content library or a publishing workflow, use the developer API. It requires an account and API key, counts against a monthly account quota and can return queued results. The developer page includes a cURL example to help connect your workflow.

Test representative files first and track completed and failed requests. Check your account's allowance before a large run; unlimited website use does not mean unlimited API quota.

Before replacing a collection

  • Keep original files and recognizable names.
  • Choose dimensions and formats that suit each destination.
  • Check representative images and every warning or failure.
  • Open the downloaded ZIP and verify its contents.
  • Download within the current retention period.
  • For automation, check account access and monthly API quota.

FAQ

How many images can I compress at once?
Upload up to 20 images per batch, splitting larger collections into batches of 20 and a final smaller batch. The default single-file limit is 25 MB; check the upload area for current settings.
Is there a daily limit on bulk compression?
The website has no usage-count limit and does not require an account. The developer API uses a separate monthly account quota.
Can I download all compressed images as a ZIP?
Bitinz offers individual downloads and a ZIP download for batch results. Check the file list and any failed items, then open the downloaded archive to verify its contents.
How should I automate hundreds of images?
Use the developer API with an account and API key, following the cURL example on the developer page. API requests count against your monthly quota, so check your allowance and handle incomplete or failed results.
How long are batch results available?
Results are available for 4 hours from submission by default, and current settings may differ. Download them in time and keep your originals; expired downloads stop working and files are cleaned up automatically.
